About Anneka

Early Life:
Anneka Svenska was born in High Wycombe during the 70s to parents Maud and Roy Barrett. Anneka has three brothers Keith, Paul (deceased) and Clive. Her ancestry is English Danish; her grandmother (Jensen) is descended from Danish ancestry. She attended Bellfield primary and middle school, followed by Wycombe High School for Girls. She went on to graduate De Montford University with a Degree in Drama and Film and a post graduate diploma in Acting from Guildford.

Career:
Early on in her career she fronted top Film TV Show ‘outTHERE’ on Channel 5 as well as acting roles in EastEnders, The Lost Son & Still Crazy. She progressed into wildlife TV combining her TV knowledge with her animal expertise, later appearing regularly on Good Morning Britain as a wolf and wildlife expert.

In 2011 she co-founded dog rescue charity K-9 Angels where she rescued and rehomed over 400 dogs from the streets of Romania and the dog meat trade in Thailand. She went on to found top YouTube channel Animal Watch based on her expertise in dogs and wolves. It is famous for its multimillion view episodes, and the channel currently has 1.3 million subscribers. Anneka travels the world filming alpha dog breeds, she is also a wolfdog and wolf expert having filmed with these challenging animals for over 20 years. Anneka currently owns two very famous Blue Wolfdogs called Ocean and River who she also works alongside in educating people about wolfdog care and wolf conservation in the wild.

Personal Info:
Anneka married Michael Tanaka, Co-Founder & Chief Commercial Officer of MIRACL in 2006. Michael is the son of Gary Tanaka, entrepreneur who donated 27 million to Imperial College in 2004. Anneka and Michael share two children, Annalise Tanaka and Kai Tanaka. Anneka divorced Michael after Michael left for Spain when Kai was 16. Anneka has since been a single parent to Kai who lives with her full time in Sussex.
